LIGHTMATTER is a media production company with a focus on creative documentary and research-led storytelling. Founded in 2008 by Bartek Dziadosz and Maria Smulewska, LIGHTMATTER has since been involved in dozens of productions supported and commissioned by universities, art institutions, broadcasters, and private foundations. Since 2013, the company has worked closely with the Derek Jarman Lab at Birkbeck, University of London, producing feature-length essay films that have screened at major festivals worldwide.
